THE BARONESS VON MECKLENBURG SCHWERIN

The Dutchess was Miss Elizabeth Tibbets Pratt, only daughter of Colonel George Watson Pratt of Prattsville, N.Y. and a relative of Jay Gould. The first husband of the Baroness was M. Armadee de Gasquet-James, an American of French origin who had been doing business in New Orleans and New York. He died in 1906 while they were in Venice, leaving his wife with four children. The beautiful widow, who is fifty-two, met her husband, who is only twenty-seven, in 1910 at a reception she was giving at her chateau near Dinard.
